Tent Girl

In 1968 a female corpse was discovered wrapped in tent canvas in the woods near U.S. 25 in Scott County, KY. The coroner's report stated she had been received a blow to the head and suffocated. She was buried in Georgetown, KY in Georgetown Cemetery and in 1971 received a headstone with the police sketch and description, in hopes that someone still might step forward to identify her. No one did for thirty years. But in 1998, DNA tests revealed Tent Girl's identity as Barbara Ann Hackmann, who had vanished in Lexington in 1967. A second grave marker bearing her name was placed underneath her original one.

To this day no one knows who killed Barbara Ann Hackmann, or why. The Kentucky State Police have no leads and the case, though not closed, is no longer actively being pursued.

Her grave is located all the way towards the back of Georgetown Cemetery.
