Daniel Boone's Grave (or is it?)

Daniel Boone died in Defiance, MO in the year 1820, and was buried nearby in a small hamlet called Marthasville with his wife, Rebecca. In 1845 it was intended that he be reinterred in Frankfort, but according to Boone's family, they took the wrong body to Kentucky.

Boone was buried at Rebecca's feet because the plot next to her was already taken. At the time, Boone's family were angry at Frankfort over details of the reinterment, and didn't correct them when they made the assumption that Boone was buried next to her. Forensic anthropologists in 1983 announced the results of their analysis: the man in Daniel Boone's grave was black. Frankfort disputed this and quickly tried to sweep the whole matter under the rug.

Nice gravestone, though.
